WVMHA President wins PCAHA President’s Service Award

WVMHA President, Tom Oberti, was awarded the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association’s President’s Service Award at the PCAHA AGM last weekend. Tom wasn’t able to be present to receive the award so James Wall, our Director of Hockey, accepted it for him. In presenting the award, Lynne Kiang, PCAHA President, noted:
“This next recipient contacted me over the summer months before the season started and suggested that PCAHA form a committee to look at the current structure of draw zones and to potentially propose revisions to the rules.  At the same time, he offered to Chair the committee.  Pulling together a committee of this nature, where there are bound to be varying different opinions and ones that folks are likely to be passionate about, makes this a huge task.  As the group got underway, it’s mandate shifted to a proposal for Zone Hockey and countless hours were spent drafting a proposal that could act as a starting point for the MHAs to consider.  I wanted to recognize this recipient because of his vision and willingness to tackle a difficult issue.”
Congratulations Tom!
