2010 -11 Hockey Registration Fees
The registration fees for the 2010-11 season are higher than the previous season due to the impact of HST and the reduction of BC government grant funding to our association. Starting July 1, 2010, HST will have a major impact on our costs, adding 7% across most of our expenditure items including the largest ones - ice rental and hockey skills sessions. . In addition, the BC government has also reduced the level of Direct Access grants to minor sports associations. For example, last year WVMHA direct access grant (the second largest revenue item on our books) was reduced by 70%. We anticipate we will receive the same reduced amount this upcoming year, but that assumption is also uncertain. Taken together, these two government initiatives add approximately $150 per player to the cost our hockey program for the 2010-11 season. The budget for our hockey program in 2010-2011 maintains the same level of services as last year and reflects the impact of the HST and the large reduction in the BC government grant. The end result is higher registration costs this season.
We are offering a $50 discount to returning WVMHA players who register in May. After May 31, this early registration discount will be no longer offered. The $50 discount is subtracted from the registration fees list below.
